Men’s Healing Circles

Facilitated monthly by Samuel J. Smith III

Free, anonymous, online talking circles for healing and learning from our respective experiences

Overview

In ReHuman Men’s Healing Circles, male-identifying participants gather to express their thoughts and experiences in a nonjudgmental space. Often using a “talking piece,” each person will have a chance to share without interruption, although sharing is not required.

Goal

The goal of the Circle is to remind brothers that they do not have to carry everything alone and to learn from each other’s experiences to heal and strengthen. The protected space of a healing circle allows us to have each other’s backs, and build community connections outside of our family structures. We will listen and learn from what each person is going through, no matter how heavy our burdens may be, with options to receive helpful guidance and support—which can continue on our private online forums after each circle.

Circle Logistics

There are two circles. Please join the circle you identify with:

Indigenous Men’s Circle - May 9th

This group is for descendants of peoples of Turtle Island (North and Central America) or Abya Yala (South America.) You do not have to be enrolled or have a tribal ID.

All Men’s Circle - May 23rd

This group is for anyone of any number of global backgrounds.

Both circles meet from 9-11am Pacific Time (time zone converter.)

If you are not sure which circle to join, contact info@rehuman.earth.

There will be a survey for everyone’s preferred time/date for the following monthly sessions.

Recordings will not be available for any circles, in order to maintain a safe space.

Process

With each circle taking place once a month, healing will feel gradual while move at your own pace. The virtual nature of these healing circles allows participants to remain anonymous if preferred, so you don’t need to turn on your camera. We welcome folks to turn on their microphones or type in the chat when sharing—and, if you just want to sit in and listen, that is also welcomed. Only one person will share at a time, and there won’t be any side conversations in the chat bar, allowing for everyone to feel present, undistracted, and heard.

These first circles will start with an introduction from facilitator Samuel J. Smith III, and then others will have a chance to introduce themselves and say where they’re from, in alphabetical order—to ensure everyone gets an equitable turn. Samuel will share a little bit of his story, and then turn it over to the circle to share again in alphabetical order, with the goal of helping brothers express themselves in a safe and empowering space.

Each circle will close with support, optional resources, and an invitation to connect in the private community forum outside of the circle.
